We had a good round of fixtures in the College League this week; the 5th of November saw both Thomas Becket Catholic School’s teams come away with good wins.

The Mens’ 1 Team moved to second place in the table by beating Southfields Libero Academy by 2-1 at home. A lethargic first half performance saw us go into the halftime break 0-0. The second half saw Thomas Becket race into an early 2-0 lead through goals by Lois Rodrigues and Jacob Ollivier. Lois’s goal was a fantastic solo effort which saw him receive the ball inside the opposition’s half and go on to a brilliant run, beating three of the Libero players before slotting home a great left foot finish from the edge of the box. Jacobs’s goal was testament to his hard work, never giving up on a ball played over the top saw him carry on his run to beat the goalie with a finish worthy of a centre forward and not a left back. Libero pulled a goal back with 15 minutes to go but a determined 2nd half performance saw us come out with a comfortable win.

The Men’s 2 Team travelled to Kettering to play Tresham Men’s 4. Coach, Pete Harris, saw his side put in a fantastic team performance to crush the opposition by 7-2 in what was described as their best performance this season. Seven goals yes, SEVEN goals were all scored by striker Josh Donnelly! Harris commented, that he was delighted with his team’s attitude and work effort and the score reflected the excellent football played; “Josh took his goals brilliantly and could have increased his score card”. Although Donnelly took all the plaudits Harris said, “It was all down to the team”.
