Arsenal, Manchester City, Crystal Palace and Republic of Ireland international footballer, Eddie McGoldrick is Head Coach of the Football Academy at Thomas Becket, one of only a handful of school-based Football Academies in Northamptonshire.
We offer up to 10 hours of coaching with UEFA Licenced coaches and players will benefit from access to vocational qualifications in sport. These include the BTEC National Extended Diploma, FA Coaching awards and a refereeing qualification.

The Thomas Becket Football Academy, is based out of the Thomas Becket Catholic School near Northampton. While the school is our home, the Football Academy is open to aspiring players of all denominations. All that we ask is your commitment, time, energy and enthusiasm. Any skills you can show when you join will be encouraged throughout your time at the Academy and you will be supported to also be the best you can be from an academic standpoint as well.
Eddie McGoldrick, the former Arsenal, Crystal Palace, Manchester City, Northampton Town and Republic of Ireland player and current Crystal Palace Academy coach, is our head coach and he warmly welcomes all young players aged between 16 and 21 years of age, regardless of their gender. We offer highly accessible football coaching through a programme of sessions, run by UEFA qualified coaches.
We offer up to 10 hours of coaching with UEFA Licenced coaches and players will benefit from access to vocational qualifications in sport. These include the BTEC National Extended Diploma, FA Coaching awards and a refereeing qualification. Students will train every day, during the morning and afternoon and coaching sessions will be based on the four modules; technical, tactical, physical and psychological, which are delivered by the Football Association and other Professional Academies across the UK.
As part of your experience at the Academy, teams will enter regional college leagues and national cup competitions, in addition to competitive fixtures against professional club academies which will be arranged throughout the year.
Academy players will enrol on a BTEC course in Sport (Levels 2/3) which will be delivered daily at the Academy in dedicated classroom settings, not shared by other non-Academy students, and you will work to achieve a Diploma in Sport by the end of the course. Students who really excel can even get the opportunity to attend trials at semi and professional clubs.
