We look forward to welcoming you to Thomas Becket Catholic School.

I am writing to inform you of some important developments in the leadership of the school, which will secure the long-term future of the school for years to come.  Last year Thomas Becket Catholic School developed a long-term partnership with St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Slough supported by the Diocese of Northampton, the school’s governing body and the school’s Trust. This partnership has enabled significant and rapid improvement at Thomas Becket, which has been clearly evident in this summer’s fantastic results and the increased number of students applying to and attending the school.

Due to the level of success achieved at the school in a relatively short period of time, combined with changes of the leadership structure at St. Josephs school, the Trust has made the decision to furnish me with the title of Executive Headteacher. This promoted role will enable me to continue to serve the students in both schools and ensure that the improvement of Thomas Becket school continues for the foreseeable future. I am extremely excited to continue to lead the school into this next phase of its development.

To support the school and provide additional leadership the school’s Trust has taken the decision to appoint Mr. Mark McLaughlin as Acting Head of School prior to the appointment of a permanent Head of School. The school has been very fortunate to appoint Mr. McLaughlin as a very high performing Deputy Headteacher last year. In this position he has had a significant impact on the development of the school and proven himself to be more than ready for the Head of School position. The decision to appoint him into this promoted position is the logical continuance of the work we have started together and I look forward to working closely with him and the entire school community to ensure the continued improvement and growth of Thomas Becket Catholic school.

As Head of School Mr. McLaughlin will assume the roles and responsibilities of the Headteacher and has been given the authority to lead the school. He will be the primary point of contact for day-to-day queries to the school where appropriate.

With these appointments I am confident that the long-term future of Thomas Becket school has been secured and I look forward to our future success.

Yours sincerely

Ciran Stapleton
Executive Headteacher

We were overwhelmed by the visit of the England U20 Rugby team that spent 2 days us working to make a mosaic and video around our core values of Faith, Compassion, Respect, Truth and Justice as well as redecorating the Sixth Form Common Room area. The official release of the visit will coincide with a launch from the England RFU, so there is much to look forward to in the future.

Please see the official release video link here.
